Meet Angela.
This is her story. The most important story she will ever tell!
"Growing up, religion was an important part of my life. I was baptized and raised Catholic and attended a Catholic school for many years. But a few days before my high school graduation, everything changed. I was in a horrible car accident. In the darkest moment of my life, I cried out to God. My desperate prayer was not answered. I felt like God had betrayed me, abandoned me when I needed Him. I decided that God did not exist. If there was a God, if He loved me, He would have answered my plea for help. My mom tried to tell me, “Angela, you walked away almost completely unharmed when you could have easily been killed. How can you think that God was not protecting you?” But I couldn’t get past my hurt and despair.
It wasn’t until almost two years later that I went to one of the Bible Studies at my university and began to meet with some of the leaders. I decided that in order to regain my faith, I had to pray, accept what I read in the Bible, and act like I believed in God, even though I didn’t. I can’t tell you how or when it happened, but I finally did reclaim my faith. Or it reclaimed me. Suddenly, I wasn’t pretending to believe anymore, I actually felt the in my heart that it was true. I know God exists, that He loves me, that Christ opened the gates of Heaven. Anything after that, I’m still working on. I have a hard time giving up control and completely trusting God, but I pray everyday for God to calm my worry, to speak to me, and show me His way. “Seek and you shall find,” they told me. They were right."
Thank you for sharing with us the goodness of God, Angela!
