Nothing beats the pure presence of God when we meet with Him in quiet and stillness. Sometimes, though, a devotional, reading or anecdote can open up worlds of thought and prayer!
Here are some of my personal favorite devotionals:
God Calling
Edited by A.J. Russell
Written by two anonymous authors, God Calling reads like the God of the universe is directly speaking to you...because He is! Broken down by the calendar year, this devotional makes you think deeply about the character of God.
Jesus Calling and Jesus Lives
by Sarah Young
Similar to the aforementioned book, Jesus speaks to the reader in these short daily readings. Inspired by Scripture, there are always several verses to refer to at the end of each reading. These are my personal favorites.
Be Still and Let Your Nail Polish Dry
by Boeshaar, Bricker, Lough & Mayne
Subtitled "A Devo For Women on the Go", the ladies who author these devotionals make me laugh and put my circumstances in God's perspective. And the title is oh so true!
The Power of a Praying Woman
by Stormie O'Martian
Separated into thematic chapters, author O'Martian has a gift for praying out the will of God. Her prayers are powerful and full of God's authority, truth, and love. God will change you through these pages.
I'm reading "The Power Of A Praying Woman" right now! It's amazing :)
ReplyDeleteI know, Alyx, isn't it?! Anytime I feel lost for words I simply open up Stormie's books and read aloud her prayers. They speak straight to my heart and are exactly the words I sometimes lack. We can call upon the Spirit for help, knowing that it is ultimately the Father who speaks for us and thru us! Amen! Thanks for commenting!
